“A Church for All Seasons Serving God and Community.”
“A Church for All Seasons Serving God and Community.”
Oakland United Methodist Church began in 1850 as a meeting group near what is now Old Oakland Church at the corner of Oakland and Mineral Hill Roads. The present church was built in 1892 on land donated by the Bennett Family. The congregation consists of a mixture of young, middle and older families. The congregation has a strong support for each other and always respond in time of need to share our love and faith of Jesus Christ.
Mission:
The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs.
Vision:
The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections.
Our Beliefs
A United Methodist is someone who joins in that mission by putting faith and love into action. We believe that God loves all people, and that we share in expressing that love. So the United Methodist tradition emphasizes God’s grace and in serving others. We believe that Jesus Christ is the fullest expression of God’s love–showing us the fullness of God’s care through Jesus’ teachings, death and resurrection.
